The Reserve Bank of Australia cut the target cash rate by 25 basis points in May taking the key interest rate down to 3.85%. RBA governor Michelle Bullock noted in the press conference that the board had considered a 50 basis point cut before reaching consensus on 25 points, going on to describe this cut as ‘cautious’.
