NAB Consumer Sentiment Survey Q1 2024

Consumer stress has eased for the first time in six quarterly surveys

  • Price perceptions have also moderated, but sentiment remains fragile with fears of renewed growth in prices over the coming year.
  • With the number of consumers making targeted cutbacks continuing to rise, many Australians have been able to make more savings and in most areas.
  • Future spending expectations are still cautious though a little less restrained.
  • With cost of living still a key concern, consumer satisfaction is highest for discounters (supermarkets and department stores).
